Celebrating ECISD’s Award-Winning Bilingual Programs

Edinburg CISD has earned multiple state recognitions for its outstanding work in supporting Emergent Bilingual students through the effective implementation of Summit K12. The district placed 3rd statewide among more than 650 districts and received the 2025 Summit K12 Summies District Administrator of the Year Award, presented to Mrs. Claudia P. Mata, Director of Bilingual/ESL Education, along with the leadership of Bilingual/ESL Supervisors Mrs. Caryn Muñoz, Dr. Marisa Garza, and Mr. Daniel Salinas.

 

Among more than 4,000 campuses in Texas using Summit K12, Robert E. Lee Elementary, under the leadership of Principal Mrs. Alonda Navarro and Curriculum Assistant Ms. Nancy Tamez, earned 2nd Place – Elementary Campus of the Year, and Ms. Ayde Vazquez received 1st Place – Elementary Educator of the Year. These accomplishments highlight strong leadership, collaboration, and a districtwide commitment to the success of Emergent Bilingual students.
