Edinburg CISD Meets with U.S. Navy Leadership

Edinburg CISD Superintendent Mario H. Salinas recently met with Ms. Mery-Angela “Angela” Katson, Acting Director of Military Personnel Plans and Policy and Director of Total Force Manpower, Training and Education Requirements for the U.S. Navy.
During the meeting, they discussed the importance of education and career readiness, focusing on how strong academic foundations and workforce pathways prepare students for future success in both civilian and military careers.
Ms. Katson oversees critical manpower, training, and education programs that impact the long-term readiness of the Navy’s Total Force. In her role, she manages strategic planning and programming efforts that support Sailors, officers, and mission readiness across the Future Years’ Defense Program. She also serves as Acting Director for Military Personnel Plans and Policy, where she is responsible for the management and execution of more than $23 billion in annual funding supporting Navy personnel and operations.
A distinguished leader, Ms. Katson brings more than 38 years of service as a career Naval Officer, retiring at the rank of Captain, and continues her service as a senior executive. Her leadership highlights the value of collaboration between education and national service in preparing future generations.
