Distance Learning Considerations for Teachers
  • Be understanding of your students' circumstances.
  • Connect with your students at least once a week and work with them to engage in the learning process.
  • Teachers should teach and engage students in the learning process and provide instructional support as needed using the varied distance learning methods available.
  • Continue to reach out to those students with whom you have not been able to make contact.
  • Do not adhere to the standard numerical grading system for Semester 2.  Use the P, F, or I scores to monitor and record progress in the student learning.
  • Be flexible with your scheduling.
    • Students are enrolled in multiple courses.
    • Students may be sharing technology resources and Internet access with siblings.
  • Evaluate student learning engagement and academic progress using the Progress Monitoring Rubric.
  • Do not penalize students for their method of response (digital, hard copy, etc.).
  • Do not Fail students for their inability to access resources or participate in the distance learning process.
  • Parents may be working and not available to provide additional instructional support during this time.

High School Course Considerations
  • Semester 2 will be included for course credit using Pass/Fail.
  • Semester 2 will not be included in the calculation for Grade Point Average, GPA.
  • Semester 1 and Semester 2 grades will not be averaged together for an average grade.
  • Semester Exams will not be administered for Semester 2.
  • Students with a Fail or Incomplete will have the opportunity to regain the credit through credit recovery lab or summer school.

Dual Enrollment
Dual Credit students will receive a letter grade from the college and a Pass/Fail for the high school course. All dual enrollment students should have access to a device and hotspot.  Contact your high school principal if any dual enrollment student needs access.
