EDINBURG – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees recently approved approximately $300,000 to purchase school supplies for all registered students for the 2020-2021 school year.
“Due to the difficult times that we are going through right now, many families will have to buy supplies for their students. So, we thought that we would supply our students with some basic school supplies,” said ECISD Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dahlia Z. Guzman.
Edinburg CISD will provide school supplies for over 34,000 students from Pre-K to 12th grade.
“All students will receive something to get their school year started,” Guzman said. “We have pencils, sharpeners, crayons, composition books, pencil pouches, glue sticks, erasers. Just the basic things that they would need so that they can complete their instruction.”
The distribution of the school supplies will take place in August before the start of classes.
“The plan right now is that students will pick up their supplies at the same time that they pick up their textbooks that they’re going to be using throughout the school year,” Guzman said.
