EDINBURG – For the first time in its nine-year history, the Technology Department from the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District recently hosted its annual innovate conference virtually.
The ECISD Online Innovate Teaching and Learning Conference was very successful with several thousand teachers, administrators, and parents attending the week-long conference, which provided more than 100 sessions on Google Classroom and many of the District’s online instructional resources.
“We just did amazing. We had over 108 sessions with over 10,270 participants with a 91-percent attendance rate,” said ECISD Technology Integration Specialist Gina Alamia. “Thanks to the great work from all of our technology ambassadors and our awesome team, we were able to get ECISD even further along the way in our blended learning experience.”
Blended learning is an educational program where students learn through a combination of online media and traditional face-to-face teaching.
In addition to the highly popular sessions on Google Classroom, participants also learned about digital storytelling, coding, and other cloud computing programs.
During the conference’s Parental Engagement Academy, parents learned how to navigate the District’s website and effectively use other programs that will aid in their child’s remote learning at home.
“There were sessions on Google Classroom, Skyward, and Clever. These are programs that the students will be utilizing during their virtual learning,” said ECISD Parental Involvement Coordinator Sandra Rodriguez. “It is important that parents know what their children are going to be using.”
