Police Canine Division
The Edinburg CISD Police Department Canine Division (K-9) is made up of three certified K9 officers and their canine partners—Nikki, Lusy, and Gita—who patrol and respond to all campuses within the district. Our K-9 officers work closely with campus school resource officers, district staff, and the community to ensure that Edinburg CISD remains drug-free and safe for all.
Trained in both narcotics and weapons detection, Nikki, Lusy, and Gita K-9 officers help maintain a secure environment by assisting in keeping campuses free from illegal substances and weapons.
In addition to their patrol duties, our K-9 officers engage the community through drug prevention programs. These initiatives include presentations at Edinburg CISD campuses and community events, providing students, parents, and local residents with valuable information and empowering them to say “NO” to drugs and make safer choices for themselves and their families.
