Family Engagement Framework

Family Framework

The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) and the Parental Involvement Office strongly believe that all parents, teachers, and community leaders are a “valuable link” in the educational success of all students. We promote the involvement of these key stakeholders by having them take part in the process that allows them to contribute by providing input to the efforts of continuously attempting to provide services that will maximize the quality of education for all students in ECISD. We have established a family engagement plan in an effort to increase the collaboration between all stakeholders. The family engagement plan will: (a) facilitate family-to-family support; (b) establish a network of community resources; (c) increase family participation in decision making; (d) equip families with tools to enhance and extend learning; (e) provide ongoing professional development opportunities for educators on culturally responsive, evidence-based strategies that support the education of the child; and (f) evaluate family engagement efforts and use evaluations for continuous improvement.

The active participation of parents, teachers, business and community leaders in all aspects of students’ education is a valuable tool that the Edinburg C.I.S.D. welcomes and respects at all times. Working together with these stakeholders makes the “Legacy of Excellence continue…

Components ECISD's Strategic Plan
Facilitate family-to-family support

ECISD will ensure the plan is applicable in different environments. The district plan will include but is not limited to Parental Involvement Assistants at each elementary campus to assist with the campus-family relationship. We will provide parents with opportunities to participate in district and campus initiatives, such as:

  • PTA/PTO
  • Read aloud Programs
  • ECISD Family newsletter
  • Literacy luncheons
  • Evening hands-on activities
  • Goal-oriented home visits to identify strengths, interests, and needs
Provide information about the existing parent-to-parent organizations, family peer networks and/or parent-initiated school-community efforts in order to continue to be leaders/advocates in the community and in their children’s campus.
Establish a network of community resources

ECISD in partnership with several Community and

Faith-Based organizations will establish resources that provide services to the students, in an effort to equip parents and caregivers in identifying and appreciating the developmental growth of their child. Some of the resources will be:

  • Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
  • Regularly scheduled district and campus-level meetings

ECISD will equip families with tools to enhance and extend learning by providing parents for example, with monthly calendars with at home activities that are age and developmentally appropriate for the children and activities, such as:

  • Campus Literacy Events
  • Ingles sin Barreras, Learning.com, and Rosetta Stone for parents
  • Make and Takes
  • Parent Youth Fair
Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for educators on culturally responsive, evidence-based strategies that support the education of the child; and
